Memory
A short piece devised for 3 Storeys at Pimlico Academy
Rough Fiction Ensemble in association with People At Play.
“I’ve recounted, re-told and re-lived this moment so many times it’s become a myth for me.” Think back with the explosively physical Rough Fiction to ask what the memories we hold onto can tell us about the person we are now?
We presented a one off 30-minute physical theatre piece as part of Three Storeys – an evening of three short plays presented in very different spaces. We created this piece over 10 days of intensive rehearsals with 4 performances for People at Play, a collective of artists based in London.
The Show explored our personal and collective relationship to memory through a blend of personal stories, scientific ideas and physical theatre. Memory was part of a playful, lively, experimental night of three plays from three companies across three storeys. “People at Play invite you back to explore the past, present and future dramas that come to make us who we are”.
“The [piece] effected me an awful lot, it was quite emotional. It was a lot more physical than i expected … the dancing was beautiful… it was relaxing; you’d be in the story and then the dancing would happening and it was like being inside a memory” Audience Member
“a really brave thing … took me aback straight away” Audience Member
